SAT 또는 ACT 점수를 제출하지 않아도 된다고 했던 많은 대학들이 최근 다시 시험 점수 제출을 의무화하는 방향으로 돌아서고 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 성적이나 시험 준비가 충분하지 않은 상태에서 비교과 활동(EC, Extracurricular Activities)에만 집중하려는 학생들이 여전히 많다는 것은 안타까운 현실입니다. 물론 예외는 존재합니다. 해당 대학의 코치로부터 공식적인 리크루팅 제안을 받은 운동선수, 국가대표 선수, 그리고 국내외에서 뛰어난 수상 경력이나 실적을 갖춘 예술·음악 전공자 등은 별도의 평가 기준이 적용될 수 있습니다. 하지만 다음과 같은 경우에는 주의가 필요합니다: 리크루팅 제안 없이 Varsity 팀에서 활동 중인 학생 해외 또는 지역 내에서만 알려진 챔피언십 팀에 소속된 경우 NCAA Division 3 소속 선수로서 전국적 인지도가 없는 경우
이러한 활동들이 대학 입시에서 결정적인 영향력을 발휘하지 못할 수 있다는 점을 반드시 인지하셔야 합니다. 여러분은 누구나 자신만의 진정한 강점과 가능성을 가지고 있습니다. 그 가능성을 찾아내고, 스스로의 진로를 주도적으로 개척해 나가길 진심으로 바랍니다. 밝은 미래가 여러분을 기다리고 있습니다 - Many colleges that once declared standardized tests like the SAT or ACT optional are now reinstating score submission requirements. Despite this change, some students continue to focus heavily on extracurricular activities (ECs) as their primary admissions strategy, even when their academic performance and test scores are not strong—an unfortunate and risky approach. Naturally, there are exceptions. Students who have received official recruitment offers from college coaches, national athletes, and applicants in specialized fields such as art or music with nationally or globally recognized achievements may be evaluated through different standards. However, if you are training on your own while playing varsity sports without having been recruited, if you're part of a regional championship team that is only known locally or internationally in limited circles, or if you compete in NCAA Division 3 without national recognition, please understand that these activities alone may not be sufficient for highly competitive admissions. That said, each of you has a field in which you truly excel. Take the time to discover your genuine strengths and let them guide you toward a bright and meaningful future.
