KSEA 가 8월 워싱턴 DC 에서 개최되는 한미과학기술학술대회(UKC 2017) 기간 동안 제2회 청소년과학기술지도자 캠프(YSTLC)를 시행하고자 합니다. 8월 6일(일)-12일(토)까지 6박7일의 일정으로 개최될 YSTLC 2017 은 노벨수상자를 포함한 최고의 석학들과 멘토들을 초청하여 과학기술 노벨 꿈나무 양성을 위한 Premier Summer Camp 를 계획하고 있습니다.

YSTLC 운영위원회에서는 2006년 노벨물리학상 수상자인 존 매더 박사 (NASA 천체물리학자)와
학생들과의 포럼과 간담회를 마련하여 미래 노벨꿈나무로서의 비젼을 갖게 하며, 나사 엔지니어의 지도로 Team project
과제를 부여받아 나사 고다드 우주항공센터 에서 직접 Rover Project 를 수행하고 우주비행사와 직접 만날수 있도록 준비하고
있습니다. 3일 동안 진행되는 과학기술 현장 교육 중 “항공우주의 날”에는 학생들이 메릴랜드 대학 내 천체물리학 실험실을
방문하여 남극의 비행에 성공한 무인 관측기구를 견학하고 우주정거장 프로젝트의 컨트롤센터에서, 현재 우주정거장에 체류중인
우주비행사들과 화상 대화도 실행할수 있습니다. “공중보건의 날”에는 국립보건원과 월터리드 육군병원 실험실을 방문하여 인류의
질병치료와 건강유지를 위한 연구의 현장을 참관할 계획입니다. 세번째로 “뇌과학-뇌의공학의 날”에는 존스홉킨스 대학의 의대와 바이오
공학과 실험실을 방문하여 최첨단 뇌과학 연구의 현장을 눈으로 확인하게 됩니다.
YSTLC 2017 참여를 통해 자녀들이 미래 글로벌 과학기술자로 성장하기 위한 동기와 열정을 부여받을 수 있기를 바랍니다.

Dear Parents,
We want to thank you for participating in 2017 National Math and
Science Competitions hosted by KSEA. We hope our children are growing
smart, healthy and STEM oriented with a boost of confidence. They are
indeed our next generations that we must nurture with all of our
hearts. KSEA continues to produce programs that will educate our
children and help them to become leaders of the society.
KSEA performed the 1st Youth Science & Technology
Leadership Camp (YSTLC2016) as a pilot program, and it was a big
success. We are recruiting students who will participate in the 2nd
Youth Science & Technology Leadership Camp. This Camp will be held
from August 6 through 12, 2017 in Washington DC area. Current target
for the Camp participants will be approximately 20 students.

YSTLC2017 will be focused on (i) extensive coaching on exploring STEM
in the real field setting by visiting various laboratories, (ii)
experience detailed mentoring by senior and junior experts in STEM
fields, (iii) learn to interpret professional conference programs, and
lectures, (iv) gain knowledge on future trends in STEM, (v) understand
the importance of networking and (vi) meeting Nobel Prize winners to
acquire passion for STEM. The highlights of theYSTLC2017 program
include a meeting with 2006 Nobel Laureate, NASA project and tour, NIH
and hospital lab program, Johns Hopkins University Bioengineering lab
visit, Astro physics lab tour and meeting with astronauts at University
of Maryland and participating in the US-Korea Conference program.
We hope that students who participated in NMSC 2017 submit YSTLC applications before all spots are filled. We expect to have another successful YSTLC/UKC this summer of 2017.
